t-shirt quilt

Completed a while ago, but pictured today.

I love these t-shirt quilts. They're so soft. They're perfect for soccer games and practices. Oh, and did I mention, easy to make? The current completed tally is 3, but I have piles of t-shirts waiting for their turn. I made a flickr set for them that can be seen here.

They are great quilts! What are your tips for working with t-shirts?

I love your alternating light and dark t-shirts...a nice twist on the t-shirt quilts with sashing.

Do you use that stretchy interfacing for your t-shirts?

Thanks for the compliments! I use fusible interfacing. First, I cut the sleeves off and cut around the seams of the shirt. Then, I iron on the fusible interfacing to the inside of the shirt. Next, I take it over to the cutting board and cut away. I like to do the same with other portions of the shirt, so I have some extra coordinating fabric to work with. Sometimes I use the sleeves for the smaller squares, etc. They are so satisfying to complete because of their emotional value.

these look amazing...my husband has been lightly hinting at me making him one....do you have to stabilize the stretchy t shirt material at all or do you work with it as is?
